Free Motion Quilting w/Dana Miller Jan 9
Join quilter, Dana Miller for a 2+ hour class on Free Motion Quilting. Students will bring their own
machine and learn the basics of how to free motion quilt. Topics will include proper pressing during
piecing, basting well, tension and stitch regulation. Fabric and batting will be provided for students to
practice some basic free motion patterns.
Intermediate Class: Students must know how to quilt. See below for further info and class supply list.

Class Supply List:
● Sewing machine where you are able to lower the feed dogs (if the feed dogs do not lower, you
can’t free motion quilt on it)
● Free Motion Foot for your machine (plastic, see-through ones are best)
● Quilting gloves (Machingers, etc.)
● New Quilting Needle 90/14
● High quality quilting thread in a bright color (I prefer Aurifil)
Additional Information:
● Adults only please, 18+
● I have ONE machine for student use, if they do not have the proper machine for this class.
About Dana Miller:
A 3rd generation fiber artist, Dana's passion for art started as a child. With a 20+ year career in
design...from graphic design to event design and then quilt design. Her passion for fiber arts has
extended 10+ years by bringing texture and comfort into our everyday lives. Dana has a wide technique
in machine and hand stitching. She receives much joy from making new, artistic creations and sharing
this passion with students, peers and colleagues. She has participated in numerous local craft fairs
including Fog Fest, Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival and the San Carlos Art & Wine Festival. When she is
away from her home studio, she spends a lot of time with family and friends. She is very active in
surfing, snowboarding, hiking and finding inspiration in her love of the outdoors.
