This class will be held via Zoom online. A link to the class will be sent to you 2-3 days before class.
Knit and crochet designer Cara Corey will teach you how to make your own crocheted rope basket using chunky wool yarn and your fingers instead of a crochet hook. Use the basket to store craft supplies, toys, books, masks, etc. Once you learn the technique, you can adapt it to other sizes and materials.
No experience is required. You will learn two beginner-friendly stitches.
The finished basket is approximately 10 inches in diameter and 7 inches tall, although the size will vary from person to person.
The kit includes:
• 25-yard ball of felted wool yarn in your choice of color
• wood circle for the basket base
• two leather straps with holes punched
• four sets of Chicago screws to connect straps
• pattern with photo tutorial
Color supplies are limited. Choose from the colors shown in the photo swatch.
Materials/tools you will need to have on-hand: Scissors and flat head screwdriver (to get the Chicago screws really tight).
TNEF Fundraiser: Please specify your color of choice in the comments at checkout. Thank you for supporting the Terra Nova Education Foundation!
About Your Instructor, Cara Corey
I started my career as a features writer for newspapers and magazines, but eventually realized I wanted to invest my time in my lifelong passion for crafting. I have always been inspired by my crafty and thrifty grandmother, Mary Marie Mason, who taught me how important it was to take time out to make something with your hands.
In my knitting and crochet classes, my goal is to build confidence in beginners by starting with chunky knit projects you can finish in one class. Once you’ve mastered that project, you can move on to smaller and smaller needles and yarn. I love the moments when it clicks for students.
