This class will be held via Zoom online. A link to the class will be sent to you 2-3 days before class.
No experience is required. This is a very beginner-friendly class where you will learn two basic stitches. I will show you some additional stitches if you want to learn.
The finished basket is approximately 10 inches in diameter and 7 inches tall, although the size will vary from person to person.
The kit includes:
• 25-yard ball of felted wool yarn in your choice of color
• 9-inch custom cut wood circle for the basket base
• two leather straps with holes punched
• four sets of Chicago screws to connect straps
• pattern with photo tutorial
Color supplies are limited. Choose from the colors shown in the photo swatch. The purple and indigo are hand dyed so they have a little bit of variation.
*If you would like to use your own yarn (should be 1/2-inch thick), you can sign up for the class only and order the wood base from caracoreydesigns.com*
Materials/tools you will need to have on-hand:
Scissors and flat head screwdriver (to get the Chicago screws really tight).
About Your Instructor, Cara Corey
After nine years in the Bay Area (and teaching many classes at craft + work), Cara moved to Saint Paul, Minnesota. She specializes in chunky knit and crochet designs and other DIY textile projects. From Cara:
"In my knitting and crochet classes, my goal is to build confidence in beginners by starting with chunky knit projects you can finish in one class. Once you’ve mastered that project, you can move on to smaller and smaller needles and yarn. I love the moments when it clicks for students."
IN PERSON workshops are coming back!
Keep checking back for a mix of online and in-person classes.
Due to the current global pandemic, we have made a lot of adjustments, including moving all of our classes online for a while. We are now ready to get back to meeting in-person, so look for upcoming classes in Pacifica (at a new venue!)
We will continue to offer online classes, both for convenience and to allow us to welcome students and teachers who live out of state. Bringing everyone together for classes has been a silver lining of the pandemic. Check out the current class lineup here.
We know this is a very difficult and unprecedented time for everyone, but we will get through this together. Thank you so much for being a part of our creative community. We truly appreciate each one of you.
Stay healthy and safe,
Roberta, Abby and Cara
